Creating the Rink: Rink liners are filled with water, forming a giant pool that freezes into a skating surface.
Freezing Conditions: Several days of below-20-degree weather are needed to freeze the layers of water.
Daily Monitoring: Once frozen, the team tracks weather conditions to ensure the ice stays solid and safe for public skating.
Weather Permitting: Rinks remain open as long as freezing temperatures persist, but closures may occur if cracks form or the ice melts.
Both rinks offer free skate sessions, making it an accessible activity for all, but note: there’s no skate rental, so bring your own skates!
