Meet us where laundry is fun
This is more than a laundromat. The World’s Largest Laundromat is a destination. With a play area for the kids, a reading area for the adults (free Wifi!), and a wall of video games and vending machines for the kids at heart, this place might actually make laundry fun.
But that’s only the beginning! There is a huge flat-screen TV hanging from the ceiling broadcasting live events and a bird aviary for bird watching while your laundry spins.
It’s the laundry that brings people here but it’s the community vibe that brings people back with free coffee and donuts, and even pizza night on Wednesdays.
With all of the amenities, you could spend all day at the laundromat! But you won’t have to because the special spin cycle here means clothes dry faster, which is better for you and for the planet.
That’s right, on top of all the fun found at the World’s Largest Laundromat, this is a green facility. The 300 machines are solar-powered!
To answer the question on your mind: Yes, this really is the largest laundromat in the world.
When we say any time, we really mean when it comes to the World's Largest Laundromat. The doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Costs to wash a load of laundry range from $2.75 for the smallest machine to $10 for the really big washers. To dry in a standard machine, it’s .25 cents for 10 minutes.
For the drop-off laundry service, it’s $1.35 per pound, including sustainable detergent!
You can also bring in your own empty bottle and fill it with detergent to save the planet from another single-use plastic bottle. You pay per ounce for the soap, saving money because you aren’t paying for the bottle, too. The planet will thank you.
Tom Benson designed this family-owned business in Berwyn to be more of a community center than a laundromat, and he certainly achieved that!
The laundromat is located in Berwyn, a 20-minute drive from downtown Chicago. There is plenty of free parking all around the facility.
