Meet us where lives are changed
This is more than a store. This is a non-profit that seeks to change the lives of women and children escaping domestic violence.
At Hope Chest, gently used women’s clothing, accessories, and shoes are sold to support a shelter for domestic violence survivors. Since Hope Chest began this mission to save lives, more than $1 million has gone to Pillars Community Health’s Constance Morris House (CMH) in La Grange.
In addition to helping women and children, the Hope Chest is helping the planet. By selling gently used items, the store increases the longevity of clothing.
This is so important because, according to the Hope Chest, 35 percent of the microplastics in our oceans come from the manufacture of clothing, and an entire garbage truck’s worth of clothing is dumped into our landfills every second. Every second!
The Hope Chest is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30am to 5pm and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 to 4pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
There are special sale days at the Hope Chest that you won’t want to miss:
Tuesday: 50 percent off all tops and athleisure wear
Wednesday: 50 percent off all accessories
Thursday: 50 percent off all dresses and skirts
Friday: 50 percent off all footwear, slacks, jackets, and swimwear
Saturday: 50 percent off all footwear, slacks, and jackets
Are you a student? You’ll want to spend your Saturday at the Hope Chest when everything is 50 percent off for students!
You’ll find different inventory every time you stop by the Hope Chest, but you can bet you’ll find a good deal on every visit!
You’ll find volunteers sorting, steaming, and hanging donated clothing at the Hope Chest. It’s the volunteers that keep this non-profit running, so let them be your guide as you peruse the shop. Better yet, sign up for a shift!
The Hope Chest is located at 305 West Hillgrove Avenue in La Grange. It is just a three-minute walk from the La Grange Road Stop on the BNSF Metra.
