Meet us where books are art objects
The Book Table is a self-described fiercely independent book shop in Oak Park with new releases at discount prices and used books at stellar prices. You’ll also find top-notch staff recommendations.
At this bookstore, you could browse the neatly printed notecards with honest staff reviews for hours. And you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the low cost of the books filling the shelves.
The owners, Rachel Weaver and Jason Smith, have worked in seven different bookstores between them, so they know how to find books for less!
With shelves brimming with books and wooden tables that invite a leisurely read, you’ll want to spend an entire afternoon at the Book Table.
You can browse books every day of the week at the Book Table! The store is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sundays from 11am to 6pm.
Costs vary depending on the book, but Book Table owners Rachel Weaver and Jason Smith say that they try everything in their power to stock their books at the best prices.
Rachel Weaver and Jason Smith are the book-loving husband and wife duo who spawned the Book Table. The store is their baby and the customers are their family.
The two met while working in an independent bookstore, of course. Both Rachel and Jason seriously love books. Jason refers to books as “art objects” and Rachel reads voraciously. She finishes about a book per week!
This dedication to books means that Rachel and Jason give some of the best book recommendations around. They love the challenge of finding the perfect book for their customers.
They also love to find obscure titles. So, if you remember a beloved, dog-eared book from childhood but you can’t remember the book’s name or even the author, stop in at the Book Table and find Rachel or Jason. They can probably track it down for you!
Located at 1045 Lake Street in Oak Park, the Book Table is just a five-minute walk from the Harlem/Lake Stop on the CTA Green Line train.
