The Kadampa Meditation Center Chicago is aptly named. It is the center for all things mediation in Chicagoland! With a location in Oak Park and Wicker Park, KMC is the peaceful place to be!

The Kadampa Meditation Center in Oak Park offers weekly guided meditation classes both in-person and online with practical instruction. In addition, the center hosts retreats, special events, and even programs for the in-depth study of Kadampa Buddhism.

This is a community space where you can sip a cup of tea, use the quiet meditation room, or shop in the store filled with meditation resources.

The Kadampa Meditation Center holds open hours on Monday from 10am to noon and Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm. Doors open 30 minutes before each in-person class.

Meditation classes range in price but are generally between $6 and $12 for in-person and online (or free for members of the Kadampa Meditation Center).

KMC Memberships are $35 per month. Trial memberships are available.

The Kadampa Meditation Center was founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche who is a Buddhist monk, meditation master, and internationally known teacher of Buddhism.

Known by “Geshe” (or spiritual friend) by his students, he has started 1,300 centers and groups around the world, developed three in-depth study programs, and is thought to be responsible for the worldwide revival of Kadampa Buddhism.

At the Kadampa Meditation Center Chicago (located in Oak Park), the principal teacher is Gen Kelsang Zamling, a Buddhist monk who studied under Geshe. He has taught students in both the United States and the UK.
