As Stephanie Miller (aka Berwyn Betty) watched her daughter Marcy grow up, she wondered what kind of business she could create that would engage Marcy and provide her with an opportunity to work.
Marcy has autism. She is high-functioning, but a family business would be the ideal working environment for her.
As Stephanie pondered this, she watched Marcy delight in all things water. Lakes, pools, showers, baths, and bath bombs - anything with water - brought joy to Marcy.
And that’s when the lightbulb went on for Stephanie.
She then dug out the basement of her home and created a soaping studio!
Stephanie now makes bath bombs, sugar scrubs, and soaps. Her unique bath bombs are often holiday-themed with a hidden toy inside. They are the kind of soaps that Marcy loves. As Stephane describes them, they are bright, fun, and full of surprises just like Marcy.
Stephanie says her goal is not to hire people to make soap but, rather, to make soap to hire people with disabilities. She is laying the groundwork now for a larger business, and she hopes to be hiring soon!

Stephanie Miller, aka Berwyn Betty, hopes to make her soap business a full-time gig for herself and people with disabilities, including her daughter, soon. Because Stephanie loves living and working in Berwyn, it’s from the community of Berwyn where she plans to hire for her store when the time is right.
