Easter Egg Hunts Near Oak Park & Beyond
A number of activities celebrating Easter, including plenty of egg hunts with treats, prizes, and photo ops with the bunny of the hour, are happening this month in Oak Park and surrounding neighborhoods.
So hop to it, put on your bunny ears, and join us at one of these egg-citing, family-friendly events. Some of these events require pre-registration due to limited space, but most are free!



Oak Park
The Easter Bunny is visiting Maple Park in Oak Park for two special egg hunts—one is family-friendly, the other is for friendly dogs.
Easter Egg Dash | Maple Park | 1105 S. Maple Ave., Oak Park, IL
Children ages 3-10 are encouraged to bring baskets, bonnets, and bunny ears to Maple Park and join the annual egg-stravaganza. The big bunny will be on hand for pictures with the whole family, and themed games will go on before and after each dash. Dash entry times are at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.
Day & Time: Saturday, April 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon; refer to the entry time on your ticket for your child's scheduled dash.
Free Admission
There are three separate egg dashes during the event. This event is free, but all participants must have a ticket to enter. Tickets are available at several locations around Oak Park, including the Ridgeland Common Recreation Center (415 Lake St.) and Candycopia (717 Lake St.).
Doggy Egg Scramble | Maple Park | 1105 S. Maple Ave., Oak Park, IL
Bring your best friend to Maple Park for the Doggy Egg Scramble, where they can explore fields for eggs filled with doggie treats. After the hunt, a special guest will take photos with you and your pup. This on-leash event is for friendly dogs only. Families are encouraged to attend, but an adult must supervise children. Registration is not required for the Doggy Scramble.

Brookfield
Brunch with the Bunny | Brookfield Zoo Chicago, Brookfield, IL
You may not do a lot of hunting on this one, but there will be Easter fun too good not to mention! Experience an unforgettable Easter celebration at Brookfield Zoo Chicago beginning with a buffet that features an array of brunch classics, including a carving station with honey bourbon glazed ham, and new favorites, plus and special kid’s buffet and an energetic interactive DJ, who will keep the atmosphere lively with upbeat music and engaging activities for kids and adults alike. Franklin Park
The Park District of Franklin Park and the Veterans Park District will host several egg hunts in Franklin Park, including events with a unique twist designed to entertain tweens. All of these egg-citing events are free and don’t require registration.
Flashlight Egg & Candy Hunt | Gouin Park | 2400 Scott St., Franklin Park, IL
Egg hunts aren’t always limited to little ones. Bigger kids, aged 6-10, should bring a flashlight and a basket to collect eggs and candy scattered around the park because this family event takes place at night.

Flashlight Egg Hunt | North Park | 10040 Addison Ave., Franklin Park, IL
Bring a flashlight and a bag or Easter basket to collect your loot, and join your friends for an egg-cellent, frenzied search for prized-filled eggs in the dark at North Park!

Egg Hunt at James Park | James Park | 10600 James Ave., Franklin Park, IL
Join the Easter Bunny for the annual Egg Hunt at James Park. Bring your basket or bag to collect all the treasures throughout the park. You might even be one of the lucky ones to discover a golden egg. The hunt is held indoors if there is inclement weather. The Egg Hunt at James Park, sponsored by Precision Today and Raising Canes, is for ages 1-7.

La Grange
The Park District of La Grange offers a diverse range of activities for everyone this Easter at Sedgwick Park. From a family-friendly egg hunt, free for ages 2-8, to a flashlight egg hunt for tweens, and even a doggie egg hunt, there's something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Tween Flashlight Egg Hunt | Sedgwick Park | 10th Ave. & 48th St., La Grange, IL
Grab a flashlight, and get ready for an egg-hilarating night of searching in the dark for candy and prizes spread around the park. The hunt is limited to tweens aged 8 to 14; however, each participant must be accompanied by a parent.

The registration fee for participants is $12. Space is limited; the registration deadline is Thursday, April 10.
Date & Time: Friday, April 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registered participants should check in no later than 7:30 p.m. The event will be moved to the Recreation Center if the weather is poor.
Easter Egg Hunt | Sedgwick Park | 10th Ave. & 48th St., La Grange, IL
Bring your little ones to search for eggs scattered throughout the park, organized by age group to make sure everyone has fun. A golden ticket is hidden in one of the eggs, and there's a prize for whoever finds it. Come early to take pictures with the Easter Bunny (please bring your own camera for photos) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event will be moved to the Recreation Center if the weather is poor.

Doggie Egg Hunt | Sedgwick Park | 10th Ave. & 48th St., La Grange, IL
Leash up your pup and bring them to this fun event to search for dog-friendly, treat-filled Easter eggs. Please note that treats will be placed inside plastic eggs, so supervision is absolutely necessary. Dogs must be leashed at all times; retractable leashes will be allowed.

Melrose Park

Veterans Park District and the Melrose Park Youth Commission proudly sponsor this family event where eggs and candy will be hidden high and low for children ages 2 to 10 to find. Remember to bring a basket to collect your goodies and a flashlight because it will get dark while the scrambler is going on. Parents may help two and three-year-olds. Four to ten-year-olds can hunt on their own.

North Riverside
Easter Egg Hunt | Village Commons | 2401 S. Des Plaines Ave., North Riverside, IL
The Police Department's Benevolent & Protective Association welcomes North Riverside families and kids aged 13 and under for a fun-filled egg hunt. Bring your own baskets to collect eggs scattered across designated areas. Participants will be separated by age group to ensure everyone has the best time possible. Some special eggs will include prize vouchers that can be redeemed at the North Riverside Village Commons. The Easter Bunny and other special guests, including the Medinah Shriner Clowns, will be on hand to greet all attendees, take pictures, and celebrate at this popular annual event.

River Forest

Bring your basket and join the Easter Bunny at the Forest Park District for springtime fun at the annual Egg Hunt in specially designated areas of Keystone Park West. To ensure everyone’s enjoyment, children ages 2 to 10 will be divided by age and hunt for hundreds of candy and eggs with participants in their age group. Watch for special golden eggs that can be exchanged for prizes.

The trickster Easter Bunny will hide eggs and candy at this free family event, which is sponsored by Veterans Park District and the City of River Grove. Youngsters from ages 2-10 should bring baskets to collect their goodies. Each hunt will be divided into age groups.
