Meet us where tastes of the Mediterranean are served
When you walk into the Grapevine Gourmet Mediterranean Cafe, you’ll be greeted by hanging bunches of grapes and pictures of the warm, blue waters of the Mediterranean.
The restaurant maintains a European vibe, but it builds upon its deep American roots. You can still see the original steel beams, wood ceiling, and brick walls from the 1930s restaurant and bar that came before the Grapevine. That restaurant, called Nick’s, was a neighborhood gathering place, and the Grapevine maintains that neighborhood feel.
Try the Greek dishes like the Pastitsio with seasoned ground beef and imported macaroni and romano cheeses topped with bechamel sauce or try the Spanakopita with leaf spinach, green onions, and leeks all mixed with feta cheese and wrapped in phyllo dough.
Another great option at the Grapevine is the Dolmades, which is grapevine leaves stuffed with ground beef, rice, scallions, and leeks, topped with an egg-lemon sauce and dill seasoning.
Can’t decide? Go for the Trio Fest, a combination of the Pastitsio, Spanakopita, and Dolmades entrees.
If you’re looking for something from the Italian side of the Mediterranean, try the Pasta Bolognese with hearty meat sauce over penne pasta and smothered in grated cheese.
The brick-oven pizzas here are another great choice. We love the Port-fino Chicken Pizza with chicken, basil pesto, sundried tomatoes, diced roma tomatoes, caramelized red onions, and goat and romano cheeses.
The Grapevine is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm. The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Entrees at the Grapevine range from about $13 to about $16. A brick-oven pizza is about $13.
Located at 9 West Hillgrove Avenue in La Grange, the Grapevine Restaurant is just a two-minute walk from the La Grange Road Stop on the BNSF Metra.
