Meet us where happiness is served cold and topped with cherries
The Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor serves up happiness in an old-fashioned soda fountain! Here it’s not just about the delicious premium ice cream made in-house using local ingredients and paired with cakes, pies, and root beer, it’s about giving back to the environment.
The pandemic was a difficult time for small businesses, and the Brown Cow was no exception. With ice cream supply chains impacted, Owner and CEO Connie Brown was forced to shut down for six months.
But this sustainable ice cream parlor bounced back with the help of the community. Donations reached $62,000 to help Brown build an in-house creamery, which helps the Brown Cow be less reliant on the supply chain and substantially reduces the carbon footprint of the shop.
It’s really no wonder the community rallied to help the Brown Cow. This family-owned business has always sought to parner with other local businesses to continue reducing the shop’s carbon footprint and to invest in the community.
The Brown Cow is open Tuesday through Thursday from 2pm to 10pm and Friday through Sunday from noon to 10pm. (Closed Monday.)
Sundaes range from about $7 to $13 for a Banana Split with three four-ounce scoops of ice cream (Madagascar vanilla bean, dutch chocolate, and strawberry) topped with housemade chocolate syrup, sliced strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream, sprinkles, nuts, and cherries.
An ice cream sandwich with seven ounces of mint chocolate chip ice cream pressed between two homemade double chocolate chunk cookies and rolled in mint chocolate chips is about $10.
When you pop by the shop, you may find Connie Ostler Brown, CEO of the Brown Cow scooping ice cream with a smile.
Located at 7347 Madson Street in Forest Park, The Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor is only a half-mile walk from the Harlem Stop on the CTA Blue Line Train.
