Meet us where tacos are a family experience
Ron Aleman’s dream to own a restaurant started small in a pop-up location in Chicago. But his tacos grew so popular that he knew it was time to find a brick-and-mortar location closer to home.
The result is Taco Mucho, a neighborhood taqueria in the Oak Park Arts District with fresh, locally sourced food. Ron is particularly proud of the steak taco made from whole ribeye roasts. The meat is marinated, tenderized, seared on the grill, and served with handmade corn tortillas.
Opening a restaurant in the Oak Parks Art District meant finding the right artist to customize a mural that combined the casual vibe of a taqueria designed for both family outings and for date nights.
Check out the mural painted by local artist Alecks Cruz when you cozy up to the counter at Taco Mucho!
Taco Mucho is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30am to 8pm. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday.
The carnitas taco with tender, marinated meat is $5. In fact, all tacos (chicken, whitefish, shrimp, and roasted poblano) are $5 unless you opt for a family pack of a dozen tacos for $65.
Tortas are $12 and nachos are $15.
Taco Mucho is the dream of Ron Aleman who grew up watching his mother and grandmother in the kitchen.
He went into sales after graduating from Perdue University, but after the events of September 11, he realized that life is too short to delay dreams. He made a huge life change and, following his passion for cooking, he attended Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago.
Today the entire Aleman family loves to welcome guests into their restaurant where Ron combines the French cooking techniques he learned in school with the family recipes from Mexico he learned from his mother and grandmother.
Ron runs the restaurant with the help of his wife, Zintia, and sons, Aidan and Eddie.
Located at 220 Harrison Street in Oak Park’s Art District, Taco Mucho is just a three-minute walk from the Austin stop on the CTA Blue Line or a 15-minute drive from Chicago.
