At Skadarliya, you’ll find traditional Macedonian and Serbian meals paired with great cocktails and live music for an evening to remember.
Start with the classic shared Skadarliya appetizer that includes feta and mozzarella cheeses, three types of prosciutto, red pepper spread, hard-boiled eggs, pepperoni, and urnebes. (Urnebes is a traditional Serbian spread consisting of a mixture of salty cheeses, garlic, sour cream, peppers, paprika, and egg yolk.)
Then share the Skadarliya Mix Grill with the whole table and join in a family-style dinner traditional to the Balkans. With pork and chicken skewers, beef pillows, sausage, burgers, cevaps, (and more!), you won’t be hungry any time soon. (Cevaps are a casing-less Balkan sausage.)
You can also order an individual plate of the popular Mix Grill, an individual plate of Cevap’s with a cheese spread, or your own Beef Pillows with french fries. Portions are as large as they are delightful!
There is also an individual Boemski Mix Plate with cevapi, ustipci, grilled sausages, chicken breasts, and grilled mushrooms served with cheese french fries. (Ustipci is a deep-fried donut-like treat.)
Finish off your meal with a sweet crepe and a Turkish coffee for a dining experience that you’ll be talking about for quite some time.
Skadarliya is open Sunday through Thursday from 10am to 11pm (the kitchen closes at 10pm) and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-1:30am (the kitchen closes at midnight).
Friday and Saturday nights are often hopping at Skadarliya. Check the schedule for live music offerings. Reservations recommended.
The popular Skadarliya meat mix is about $45 for four people or $67 for six people. The traditional cold appetizer with urnebes is $15 for two people.
Individual Mixed Grill plates are $27. The Boemski Mix Plate is $22. An individual portion of cevaps is $17.
Cocktails are between $9-$12.
Skadarliya is located at 9237 Ogden Avenue in Brookfield about a 25-minute drive west of Chicago. Limited parking is available, but complimentary valet service is available in front of the restaurant.
