Sawmilly Sandwich Shoppe

35 East Burlington Street
Riverside, IL 60546

Meet us where the food is served fast but cooked slow

Everything is made from scratch at the Sawmilly Sandwich Shoppe.

The turkey is roasted and the brisket is smoked in-house daily while the pulled-pork shoulder is slow-cooked overnight for eight hours.

Pair that tender pork roast with chimichurri sauce, kale, provolone, dijonnaise, onion, and a side of garlic au jus, and you have a Roast Pork Dip that was voted Chicago’s Best.

The specialty sandwiches here are made fast, but this is far from being fast food. For instance, the chimichurri sauce on the Chicago’s Best Roast Pork Dip is – like everything else here – made from scratch daily with fresh mint, cilantro, parsley, roasted garlic, and spices.

The sandwich is then made right in front of you using the freshest of ingredients.

Other hot, hand-carved sandwiches include an Apple-Wood Smoked Ham with creamy brie or a Corned Beef with sauerkraut and swiss cheese.

There is always a special touch here, like the spicy, garlic pickle that pairs perfectly with the Cubano sandwich. Even the potato chips are hand-cut and served with a special onion dip.

There is also gluten-free bread for no extra charge!

The special care that goes into the food here is a hallmark of Chef Scott Zimmer who has 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry. If you swing by the Sawmilly for a hot sandwich you might find Chef Zimmer serving up the pork shoulder. If he’s not here, then he’s probably next door at the Sawmilly sister restaurant the Chew Chew.
