Meet us where taste buds tingle for old-time Chicago favorites
To locals, Portillo’s is a world unto itself, full of favorite tastes and temptations. Portillo’s Italian beef has a dedicated, energetic following: Slow-roasted for four hours, the beef is thinly sliced, served on freshly baked French bread, and can be dipped in hot gravy made from a 50-year-old recipe blend of seasonings. Its Chicago-style hot dogs and other sausage sandwiches come served with all the required trimmings. Portillo’s also has a full-service catering menu for special events, including weddings.
Portillo’s is open seven days a week
Hot dogs and char dogs range in price from $5-$8. An Italian beef sandwich costs about $12. A slice of the chocolate cake is about $5 and a chocolate cake shake is about $7.
Founder Dick Portillo opened his first restaurant in far west suburban Villa Park, IL back in 1963. The Portillo family is still involved in the rapidly expanding business today – with more than 60 locations in multiple states.
