Meet us where sushi and seaweed unite
Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish that consists of raw tuna and fresh vegetables marinated with sesame oil and soy sauce. Pronounced Poe-Kay, the ingredients are usually mixed in a bowl called a Poke Bowl.
At Poke Burrito, the fresh ingredients are placed in a healthy seaweed wrap to make a sort of sushi burrito! You can also order a Poke Bowl, of course.
In fact, you can have your poke in a variety of different ways at Poke Burrito, where customizable sushi is the name of the game.
“Your Way, Right Way” is the motto at this Asian fusion restaurant where the fish is never frozen and the ingredients are healthy and fresh. Add or remove any ingredients from the five house creations to build the bowl or burrito that is right for you.
Order Jimmy’s Creation Burrito in which the following ingredients are wrapped into a delicious Poke Burrito: salmon, tuna, avocado, edamame, onions, pineapple, seafood salad, sesame seed, mandarin orange, ginger, and a house-special sauce that’s lightly spiced.
If you’d rather stick with cooked dishes, the Chicken Burrito may be the right fit for you.
Poke Burrito is open daily from 11am to 9:30pm.
Poke Burritos and Poke Bowls are about $16.
Poke Burrito owner Jimmy Chen is an experienced sushi chef with a passion for making healthy and customizable sushi dishes.
He first had the idea for bringing traditional Hawaiin poke to Illinois when he went to New York City and witnessed the popularity of the bowls filled with raw tuna and vegetables marinated in sesame oil and soy sauce.
Why not wrap the ingredients in healthy seaweed and call it a burrito?
Chen opened a Poke Burrito in downtown Chicago and another in Lincoln Square before turning his eyes on Oak Park.
After helping Pete’s Fresh market set up a sushi counter, he knew the village was just the spot for the next Poke Burrito!
Located just 10 miles west of Chicago at 1025 Lake Street in Oak Park, Poke Burrito is a six-minute walk from the Harlem/Lake Stop on the CTA Green Line or a four-minute walk from the Oak Park Stop on the Union Pacific Metra.
