Novi's Beef

Meet us where the beef is the best

In 1960, when Nick “Novi” opened his beef shop in a shack on the corner of Ogden and Oak Park Avenues, he probably didn’t envision his recipe bringing home the title of Best Italian Beef in Illinois.

But it’s Nick’s recipe that is served to this day at Novi’s Beef, and it’s that recipe that won the coveted title in a USA poll in 2016.

The beef comes from the butcher to Novi’s every morning where it is seasoned in gravy flavored with 15 delicious spices. Everything is fresh and made daily at Novi’s with no preservatives.

Nick sold his shack in 1989 to the Lattas family who continue his commitment to fresh food at a reasonable price. They moved the establishment back from the road a bit and expanded, but the Lattas kept the original countertops and preserved the Chicago landmark that Nick built.

Only this Chicago landmark is not in Chicago. Noti’s was one of the first beef shops built outside the city limits where competition over the best Italian Beef is stiff.

All the same, this family-owned establishment that started out in a shack beat out the big guys and earned the title of Illinois’ best beef.

The traditional Novi’s Italian Beef Sandwich is $7.

There is an expansive menu beyond the award-winning beef. Choose from burgers, hot dogs, chicken pita sandwiches, fresh-cut fries, and much more. In holding to Nick’s tradition of good food at an affordable price, everything runs about $7 or less.
