Meet us where the turtle sundae is perfected
Tucked inside La Grange Park’s famed Bill’s Place restaurant sits Maple Avenue Creamery, a dessert shop that is a tantalizing option after a plate of broasted chicken at Bill’s.
The creamery scoops up 18 flavors of ice cream, premium soft-serve ice cream, frozen yogurt, and 20 flavors of Hawaiian shaved ice.
Then there is the Turtle Sundae, a longtime staple at Bill’s Place that Maple Avenue Creamery continues to perfect with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, whip cream, and pecans - all topped with a cherry, of course!
We love the Scooped Candy Shakes that come in flavors like Oreo, Butterfinger, and Reese’s Pieces. And there is nothing like a nostalgic Root Beer Float at Maple Avenue Creamery or a Scooped Banana Split with three scoops of vanilla ice cream smothered in pineapple, strawberry, chocolate syrup, whip cream, peanuts, and cherries.
Maple Avenue Creamery is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
Bill’s Favorite Turtle Sundae is about $4 for a single scoop and just over $5 for a double scoop. A 16-ounce Scooped Candy Shake is about $4.50 and a 24-ounce shake is just under $6.
For a touch of nostalgia, the Root Beer Floor is about $3.50 and a Banana Split is about $7.
Bill Konstantapoulos first opened Bill’s Place in 1983 in Brookfield. Since then, he has moved the restaurant to La Grange Park and expanded to include both Maple Avenue Creamery (in 2008) and, more recently, Bill’s Pizzeria.
Loyal customers followed Bill from Brookfield, and old and new customers alike are delighting in the expanded opportunities to eat with Bill, who is often found in the open kitchen that welcomes guests.
Maple Avenue Creamery is tucked inside Bill’s Place 1146 North Maple Avenue. It’s just 14 miles west of downtown Chicago.
