Meet us where tacos and folk dancing unite
Walk over the welcoming doorstep of this circular storefront on Forest Avenue and you will not regret it. You’ll immediately enjoy the aroma of the fresh, authentic Mexican fare that La Estancia owner Claudia Reyes is cooking up in the kitchen.
Reyes warns that you may have to wait a while for your plate, but she says it’s well worth it. The food will be made when you order and cooked to perfection. Nothing is pre-made. Everything is fresh.
La Estancia is styled after the traditional botanera found in Cuernavaca, Mexico in which the restaurant converts into a music lounge at night. So, on Friday evenings at La Estancia, you can expect a lively show with Mexican folk dancing.
Reyes’ husband hails from a ranch in Mexico called La Estancia, which is how this gem on the corner of Forest Avenue and East gets its name.
The food here is traditional burritos, tacos, and tamales, and Reyes adds her own twist with unique, fresh flavors. The Steak Fajitas include a mix of sweet pepper as well as bell, and the Stuffed Fish is paired with fresh-made guacamole.
If you can’t decide on your choice of meat, split the molcajete for two, and roll up your sleeves for a plate of shrimp, pork, chicken, and steak smothered in cheese and chorizo sauce.
Guests also rave about the vegetarian options like the pineapple taco and the mushroom burrito.
La Estancia is open Monday through Saturday 11:30am-9pm and Sunday 11:30am-8pm.
Make sure to dance your way into La Estancia on Friday evenings when the weekly Viernes de Carnival takes place. Join in the Mexican folk dancing to celebrate the coming weekend.
The menu is also available for delivery and to-go orders.
The Molcajete for two people is $29. The steak fajitas are $16. A homemade, natural fruit margarita is $13.
A woman-owned restaurant in Riverside, you’ll probably find owner Claudia Reyes in the kitchen cooking your made-to-order entrée.
Located at 25 Forest Ave., La Estancia is located just steps from the Riverside stop on the BNSF Railway.
