Meet us where life is savored
The motto at this tavern in the Pleasant District of Oak Park is to “slow down and savor what life serves up”. That’s just what you can do at Kettlestrings Tavern where upscale pub grub and cocktails are served in an inviting atmosphere where the game is always on.
The chef-driven bar food here means shareable plates of Truffle Fries with parmesan, parsley, and garlic aioli and the tavern’s Signature ‘Strings Wings with Porter BBQ in a buffalo or dry-jerk rub with celery, carrots, and blue cheese for dipping.
Kettlestrings calls the salads “unapologetically trendy,” while we call them undeniably delicious! Try the Steak Salad with sliced steak on top of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, mixed greens, and Kettlestring’s balsamic vinegar dressing.
Of course, when you’re in town, you must try the Oak Park Burger with Angus beef, American cheese, house pickles, basil aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion pressed between a potato roll. Pair it with a Hemingway Cooler (Botanist Gin, soda, and lime) to get the full Oak Park experience!
This Oak Park tavern is open Monday through Wednesday from 4pm to 10pm, Thursday from 4pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 11am to midnight, and Sunday from 10am to 9pm. (The kitchen closes 30 minutes before closing time.)
On Monday you can get your second appetizer for half-off, on Tuesday it’s two burgers and two beers for just $35, on Wednesday the draft beers are just $5, and on Thursday you can knock 25 percent off select bottles of wine.
Entrees are about $15 at Kettlestrings.
Kettlestrings Tavern is owned by three Oak Park families who joined together to design a pub where people can celebrate the simple pleasures in life.
The co-owners and founders are Wil and Justine Greenwald, Rob Guenthner and Katie Ashton, and Pete and Fran Lisnic.
The chef in the kitchen here is Tanya Baker, who was a finalist for the 2015 James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year Award.
Located at 800 South Oak Park Avenue in the Pleasant District, Kettlestrings Tavern is only a three-minute walk from the Oak Park Stop on the CTA Blue Line.
