Meet us where comfort food is served with a smile
At this family-owned restaurant in Oak Park, the owner knows your name and your favorite meal. That meal could be anything from a fluffy omelet to a Hot Dog wrapped in bacon. Whether you want breakfast for lunch or a Philly Cheese Steak for breakfast, this is the diner for you!
The omelet selection is seriously vast, ranging from a Fiesta Chorizo Omelet with ham, green pepper, and onion to a Gardener’s Omelet with asparagus, avocado, spinach, cheddar cheese, and sour cream.
The French Toast comes in flavors like the New Orleans with sautéed bananas in maple syrup or Cinnamon Roll with banana, pecans, and Nutella. From the special menu, we love the Corned Beef Hash served with eggs, potatoes, and toast.
The lunch menu includes a Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich, a Hot Meatloaf Open-Face Sandwich, and a Gyro with tomato, onion, and tzatziki. And, of course, the special George’s hot dog. Here the hot dog is called the Frencheezie and it's stuffed with American cheese and wrapped in bacon.
George’s Restaurant is open every day from 7am to 3pm.
An omelet at George’s starts at $10. Benedicts and skillets start at about $14. A plate of pancakes or French Toast is about $12. The Corned Beef Hash is $13.50. Lunch entrees range from $11 to $15.
On any given day, you may find George or his son John chatting up the regulars at a corner booth while serving chocolate chip pancakes. The friendly service is what the locals love about this place.
In 2021, the youngest son of Ourania and George Konstantos died of a heart attack at the age of 36. His smile and friendly banter with customers are deeply missed. All of Oak Park mourns alongside the Konstantos family.
George’s Family Restaurant is conveniently located just a one-minute walk from the Oak Park Stop on the CTA Green Line and a one-mile walk from the Oak Park Stop on the CTA Blue Line. The restaurant address is 145 South Oak Park Avenue.
