Meet us where the music brings people together
The Friendly Tap is a neighborhood bar built to bring the community together through music.
The taproom has a “dive bar” vibe and hosts live music shows, live band karaoke, open mic nights, and community events.
Next door, the Friendly Coffee Lounge brews cappuccino in a cozy space, while upstairs, the Friendly Music School offers one-on-one lessons and group guitar classes.
There is something for everyone in this venue that revolves around music!
On any given night you might find a great band sharing a new album with the crowd. On the second Thursday of the month, Chris Siebold and Chris Neville take to the stage, and on “Thirsty Third Thursday” the band Courtesy Patrol plays.
Wednesday night is open mic night. A can’t-miss event where the community rallies around aspiring artists brave enough to share their work.
Friendly Tap is open Monday through Friday until 11pm and Friday and Saturday until 1am.
You won’t want to miss the Wednesday night open mic. On the second Thursday of the month and on “Thirsty Third Thursdays” the taproom hosts a special show.
The live shows are free and Friendly Tap passes a hat for the performers. Beer is cheap in keeping with the dive bar vibe.
The guides at Friendly Tap are the local musicians who perform live shows here, and the aspiring stars who play during the Wednesday night open mic.
Friendly Tap owner Rob Pierce is often one of those local musicians. He plays in two bands that sometimes take the stage at the taproom.
Guests report that it’s the kind of place where when the lights go out, the owner may just break out his guitar, light some candles, and buy a round of drinks!
About a half-mile walk from the Jackson stop on the Blue Line “L” train, Friendly Tap is located at 6731 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.
