You may even find yourself chatting with talented confectioner and new grandmother Anne Pardun who opened her shop in Brookfield’s downtown district after her jarred candy creations were a hit at local farmer's markets.
Make sure you check out the variety of handmade candy barks that rotate through the shelves depending on the season. The barks are made with all-natural ingredients and come in flavors like cherry amaretto almond, lemon, pumpkin spice pecan, dark chocolate mole, and traditional peppermint.
Fill My Jar is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
Holidays are always a delectable time to visit this candy-lovers paradise when seasonal treats and adorable gift baskets abound. You can also combine your delicious stop at Fill My Jar with a visit to the nearby candle shop Warm Wick and the record store Vines and Vinyl.
Handmade candy barks start at $5 while a bark gift basket starts at $50.
Anne Pardun took great joy in the full-time job of being a stay-at-home mom to her three daughters. While the girls were at home, she freelanced as a cake decorator, but most of the baked delicacies coming from her kitchen went straight onto the kitchen table for family meals.
Then she started dabbling in jarring, meaning placing her specialty candy barks and handcrafted toffee into charming mason jars for gifts. She developed a cult following around town and started popping up at farmer's markets.
And that’s how Fill My Jar was born.
Today, Pardun owns a brick-and-mortar candy shop around the corner from her home where she still hosts family gatherings with her grown children who are now having children of their own.
For this grandmother, it is never too late to dream.
The candy shop is located at 3726 Prairie Avenue in Brookfield. Fill My Jar is just 15 miles from downtown Chicago and a two-minute walk from the Brookfield Stop on the BNSF Railway.
