Meet us where the empanadas are always on special
This family-owned and operated shop on Burlington Street serves up delicious empanadas alongside a beautiful story.
When Leslie needed to raise money for her tuition, she set up a booth at the Chicago Antique Market to sell her vintage clothing creations. Her parents and three siblings pitched in to help with the effort, but their booth simply blended in with all of the other booths.
That’s when Leslie’s father Ricardo had an idea. What if they sold their family’s special empanadas at the booth?
The clothing sold and the empanadas were a hit! During the next market, the family set up a booth just for their empanadas and the rest is history.
That started the family business where Ruth and Ricardo cook up a huge variety of empanadas with their four children in a cozy shop in Riverside.
Try the Buffalo Chicken with cubes of chicken, red peppers, and blue cheese or the Beef Empanada with premium ground beef, onions, green olives, and hard-boiled eggs.
The vegetarian options are just as mouth-watering. The Caprese Empanada with mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, and basil is a fresh twist on the classic meat options as is the Spinach Empanada with steamed spinach, three kinds of cheese, and sauteed onions.
There are vegan options as well. The Vegan Al Pastor features soy meat, pineapple, onions, and cilantro.
The menu includes gelato and other sweet options. The Banana Nutella dessert quiche deserves a taste if you have any room left!
