Meet us where the planet comes first
At Buzz Café, every cup of coffee is made with the planet in mind. All ingredients in this sustainable restaurant in the Oak Park Arts District are natural, organic, ethically and locally sourced.
The fair-trade coffee brewed into every cup is dropped off at the café by local partners in an effort to cut down on the emissions consumed in the transportation process - all while keeping dollars in the local community.
Supporting the community is important to Buzz Café owners Laura and Andrew Maychruk who opened the restaurant nearly 25 years ago. The café has since become an Oak Park institution where neighbors come to catch up over good coffee and fresh, organic meals.
In a way, the café is the community center for the area, so Laura and Andrew understand just how important it is to support the very people who gather here. The walls are filled with the work of local artists and the weekly performance schedule is filled with the names of local performers.
Come to Buzz Café to be welcomed like a local and to feel the heartbeat of Oak Park!
Stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The Buzz is open Monday through Saturday from 7am-8pm and Sunday from 8am-2pm. Make sure to check out the weekly shows!
While the Buzz is known for organic meals of all types, they specialize in vegan and vegetarian fare. Try the Tofu Veggie Scramble for breakfast ($9.50) or the Grilled Portabella topped with spicy black-bean hummus and melted mozzarella for lunch or dinner ($9.25).
Restaurant owners Laura and Andrew Maychruk opened Buzz Café nearly 25 years ago, and they’ve built a team that feels like family.
Keep an eye out for Music Manager Julie Beland who works with the entertainers for the weekly shows at the café, or Art Manager Charlie Doyle who works with the local artists whose work is featured on the walls.
Buzz Café is located at 905 S. Lombard Avenue in the Oak Park Arts District. It’s just steps from the Austin stop on the “L” train or a 15-minute drive west from downtown Chicago.
