Meet us where BBQ needs no sauce
This story begins where every good BBQ story should start: in the backyard.
About the same time that Juan Silva’s wife gave him a smoker as an anniversary gift, his neighbor, police lieutenant Chris Chin, built a cinder-block barbeque pit in his backyard. The two started experimenting with their smoking techniques and swapping BBQ tips.
Before long, they were smoking whole hogs for friends and family events. Word of mouth spread and the backyard BBQ duo started catering events and setting up a stand at the Brookfield Farmers Market where their weekly offering would sell out far before lunchtime.
When their smoked whole hog won the Forest Park Rib Fest, they knew it was time to start thinking about a bricks-and-mortar location.
Today they serve platters of Smoked Pulled Pork and Wagyu Brisket at Eight Corners in Brookfield. Even though they say that barbeque done right needs no sauce, they also offer some delicious sauces on the side like cherry chipotle, pineapple mango, and the mole barbeque sauce that won the Rib Fest ribbon.
The Beach Avenue BBQ menu also has room for St. Louis Ribs, Rib Tips, Jalapeño Cheddar Hot Links, and pans of Pulled Chicken alongside pans of Fire-Roasted Seasonal Vegetables and Pit Beans with pork and brisket.
The days of racing to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings before the Beach Avenue guys sell out of their famous BBQ are over.
Their brick-and-mortar restaurant is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11am-7pm and Sundays 11am-3pm.
A pound of Pulled Pork is $20, a pound of Wagu Brisket is $30. A half-pan of Pit Beans or Fire-Roasted Vegetables is $45. Served family-style.
You’ll find neighbors turned restaurant owners Juan Silva and Chris Chin presiding over the fire roasting at Beach Avenue BBQ when you come for your meat fix.
Beach Avenue BBQ is located at 3453 Grand Blvd. at Eight Corners in Brookfield. It’s just over a half-mile walk from the Brookfield stop on the BNSF. Just look for the big red pig on the roof!
