Meet us where “outta” of the box is a way of life
The Outta Space art and music venue in Berwyn is not your standard bar. Created by artists for artists, this is a space for exhibitions, workshops, community fundraisers, and so much more.
On most nights, you can hear live music performances here, and on Thursday nights you can rock the stage at the weekly open mic night.
There are also songwriting workshops and a “creative open gym,” which is known around town as an art club for adults. Just bring your own supplies and create a work of art in a welcoming space surrounded by other artists and a cash bar.
Tuesday through Saturday, and every second and third Sunday, the Outta Space hosts nightly live music performances. If you want to take your turn on stage, Thursday is open mic night.
The bar is open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7pm to midnight, Thursday through Saturday from 6pm to 1am, and the second and third Sunday of the month from 1pm to 5pm.
Entry costs at the Outta Space depend on the event, but most events list a suggested donation at the door.
The Outta Space offers specials on beer (between $4 and $5 for a can and between $5 and $6 for a draft), and wine (about $5 for a glass).
Membership options are also available from between $5 and $50 per month. Members enjoy exclusive benefits, including swag, discounts on room rentals, and more.
The artists are the guides at this creative hub where the evening’s events depend on the hosts.
If you’re lucky, the Outta Space Owner Aaron Mitchell will be hosting Thursday’s open mic night or performing with his band, Dirty Green. Mitchell is also the founder of Berwyn Arts & Music (BAM), so he knows his way around the local music scene.
As a singer and songwriter, Mitchell understands the importance of creating a venue that caters to the needs of the artist and allows for creative exploration and growth on stage and off.
The art and music bar is located at 6840 32nd Street just off the Berwyn Stop on the BNSF Railway. The Outta Space is just a 20-minute drive or 20-minute train ride from Chicago’s Union Station.
