Meet us where the art of printmaking is expressed
Expressions Studio (formerly Expressions Graphics Workshop) is a non-profit printmaking cooperative and art gallery that is a fixture in the Oak Park Arts District.
The volunteer-run studio is a working press shop, an artists cooperative, a fine-arts gallery, and a learning space for classes and workshops.
The studio has three printing presses for etching, intaglio, mono-printing, relief and collagraph, and screen printing. The print shop is committed to eco-friendly printing and environmentally sound alternatives.
The cooperative gallery showcases local printmakers, painters, jewelry makers, and textile artists. Every purchase of a gift card or original print supports the artists and the non-profit cooperative. Stop by to meet the artists and to contribute to the local artisan community.
The exhibits housed in Expressions Studio are open to the public and cover a broad range of themes. The annual Her Voice Art Exhibit features women printmakers and takes place over the late summer and fall.
The classes hosted at Expressions Studio explore unique ways to create art such as a recycled printmaking course that teaches etching techniques using packaging materials instead of copper plates.
Gallery hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and Wednesday from 10am to 12pm.
Exhibits are open to the public.
Members of Expressions Studio pay $40 annually to gain access to open studio time, which is $10 per hour.
Classes and workshops range in price. The recycled printmaking course is $125 for a four-week course.
Stop by during gallery hours to meet the volunteers and artists who staff Expressions Studio. Often the same volunteer who greets you at the door will be one of the artists showcased in the gallery.
Expressions Studio is located at 29 Harrison in the Oak Park Arts District. It’s a five-minute walk from the Austin stop on the CTA “L” line or a 15-minute drive west of downtown Chicago.
