Meet us where the galleries are open late
Every day is a special day in the Oak Park Arts District where Harrison Street is brimming with eclectic cafes, vintage shops, boutiques, galleries, and artist studios.
But the third Friday of every month should be circled on your calendar. This is when galleries unveil new exhibits, studios host open houses, and businesses keep late hours.
Take the stroll down Harrison Street and stop in at Expressions Studio, a non-profit printmaking cooperative, or see what’s in the works at the woman-owned Calypso Moon Studio.
See if you can catch a show or a class at the Actors Garden. Maybe even drop off the kids at Kidcreate for a “date night,” and let them fingerpaint with the skilled art educators at the studio while you enjoy dinner and a stroll.
Try the wood-fired pizza at Trattoria 225 or the Hungarian Sausage at Eastgate Cafe where you might even find an acoustic set being played by a local artist. Opt for the steak tacos at Taco Mucho or see if Buzz Café is hosting a Friday night show.
The Third Friday Gallery Walk on Harrison Street is the place to be!
The best time to visit the Oak Park Arts District is the third Friday of every month when businesses and galleries host special events from 6pm-10pm.
There is no cost to stroll down Harrison street for the Third Friday Gallery Walk.
Let the artists be your guide on this eclectic walk down Harrison street that is brimming with independent galleries and studios.
Located on a half-mile stretch of road on Harrison Street between Elmwood and Austin Boulevard, the Oak Park Arts District is conveniently located by the Jackson and Austin stops on the CTA “L” train.
