Meet us where Wright is on every corner
Architecture enthusiasts will delight in taking the Wright Around Oak Park tour, the most comprehensive and intimate of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust's tour offerings.
Over the two-and-a half hour, you'll view the incredible number of structures in Oak Park designed by the father of American architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour begins at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, where Wright designed buildings that embodied Prairie style of architecture, a distinctly American form of design.
While at the home and studio, you'll be granted access to parts of the home and studio not included in the standard home and studio tour, such as the studio balcony.
Tourgoers will be treated to a more intimate experience with the Wright Around Oak Park tour due to its smaller group size. Tour groups are limited to eight people, so you can marvel at the beauty of Wright's work without being jostled or having your vision obscured by crowds.
Following the home and studio, which showcase Wright's early years, an expert docent will lead the tour through the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District. In that district, amid other historical homes, you'll see 10 beautifully preserved Wright-designed houses.
And you don't even have to walk far to see them all; the entire walking section of the tour is just under a mile, making it a very nice stroll.
The Wright Around Oak Park tour, which includes a rest break and a gift shop discount, is a pleasant experience that charts the evolution of Wright's famed style.
The Wright Around Oak Park guided walking tours take place on Saturdays and Sundays from April through November beginning at noon.
